In 1851, the company that is now known as CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (HPWS) began operations under the name Cooper Dock. Beginning in the year 2016, the former Huangpu Shipyard and the Wenchong Shipyard will be known jointly as the new Huangpu-Wenchong Shipyard. Changzhou, Wenchong, and Longxue are the three shipbuilding divisions that belong to HPWS. The company's primary focus for its newbuilding business is on the production of feeder container dredger bulk carriers.
