Hermes Marine Management S.A. is a ship management company based in Maroussi, Athens, Greece. Founded in 1998 by a member of a prominent Middle Eastern industrial family, the company originated as a vehicle for ship owning and management, with its fleet initially under long-term charter to Vela International, a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco. The company provides newbuilding supervision, technical and operational management, crewing, and commercial management services for tanker vessels, including VLCCs. Its scope covers shipyard specification compilation, construction supervision, vessel inspections, dry-docking coordination, chartering, insurance arrangement, and financial reporting. Since its establishment, Hermes Marine Management has ordered and managed 38 newbuild tankers from South Korean shipyards, with a combined deadweight capacity exceeding nine million tons. Its management team has extensive experience in the VLCC tanker sector, with several executives having previously served as seafarers before moving into shore-based management roles.
