The Philadelphia Shipyard is the only shipyard in the United States that builds vessels specifically for use in the American market. In order to participate in the Jones Act market, all commercial vessels that transport cargo from one port in the United States to another must be constructed, owned, maintained, and manned by citizens of the United States, and they must also be registered under the flag of the United States.
