Company Info

Petróleos del Norte, S.A., known as Petronor, is an oil refining and marketing company based in Muskiz, in the Basque Country, near the port of Bilbao.

Founded in 1968, the company operates one of Spain's major refineries, processing crude oil into fuels, lubricants and other petroleum derivatives. Petronor is majority owned by the Repsol group, with a minority stake held by Kutxabank.

Commercial and trading activities linked to the group, including the supply of bunker fuels to vessels calling at Spanish ports, are handled from Repsol's offices in Madrid. The Muskiz site remains in operation and has been the location of recent projects to produce renewable hydrogen and lower-carbon fuels alongside its conventional refining output.
