In 1980, Barry Kimber established Seaward on the island of Guernsey with the intention of creating these one-of-a-kind Nelson semi-displacement vessels. Due to the overwhelming demand for the original Seaward 23 model, an owner's club was established in 1988 and given the name Seaward Squadron.
